Little Piece Of History Springs To Light

Whilst spring cleaning the James Lloyd Almshouses the Warden, Dee Flint, came across some very old papers – one, an extremely significant part of the history of the Trust! The old papers Dee unearthed included the original Deed of the Almshouses, which gives an interesting insight into Elmira Lloyd’s original founding of the James Lloyd Trust. The Deed tells us James and Elmira Lloyd lived in Showell Green, which today is in Birmingham but, in the 1860s, was part of Worcestershire. Table Sale Tops £300!

The recent table top sale at James Lloyd Trust Almshouses raised an incredible £303. The majority of the money came from a special raffle and the table top sales. Entry fees and the sale of a cake - made by resident Mrs. Griffin - and biscuits donated by the local shop and Post Office, raised a further £28. At the end of the day £50 was donated to Woodlands Nursery, Bournville. The remainder of the monies raised will pay for the James Lloyd residents’ Christmas party, which will be held in the common room, on 13th December ...
